Vikings Season 5 Release Date/Air Date: November 2017?

The fans are already anticipating a lot of big changes come the fifth season, which by the way is already confirmed for 20 brand new episodes which will be aired in November 2017. Perhaps, it will also be aired in two parts. The makers of the show decided to deliver yet another exciting entry as the viewership amassed by the previous installment was quite impressive. And with such critical responses, Vikings season 5 was bound to get renewed by the Network.

The makers of Vikings season 5 have already released a trailer/teaser video teasing what’s in store for the fans in the next season. Now, AlexHoegh Andersen (Ivar) has revealed that the upcoming season will be released this year itself.

Since season 4 has ended just a few weeks back, it is expected that the makers of the show will take a gap of at least few months to air the next season. Season 4 returned last year after a gap of almost 10 months. The final episode of season 3 aired on 23rd April 2015, and season 4 premiered on 18th February 2016 in the US. Season 4 comprised of 20 episodes, which were telecasted in two parts. Part 2 of season 4 was aired after a gap of seven months. Vikings Season 5 Air Date and Latest Updates

The filming of the latest season 5 is currently going on. In an interview, Creator and Show-runner Michael Hirst revealed that he is busy in writing the last two episodes of the season 5 and will be completing in some time. “I’m just writing the last two episodes of Season 5,” he told Variety. Moreover, Hirst confirmed the possibility of season 6 as well. “I’m pretty sure we can go on for another two seasons,” he said.

Michael Hirst also shared that season 5 will begin with the burial of Sigurd (David Lindstrom), who was killed by Ivar, in the last season. “Ivar is weeping and saying he never meant to do it,” Hirst said. It is believed that this move will cause a rift between the brothers and this will divide them into two camps. Ivar and his numerous battles with Heahmund (who is part of the main cast of Vikings season 5), is also going to be an interesting part in upcoming season 5.

“A large part of the next season will be about, will it be like this great Roman conflict after Caesar’s death, the great Roman civil wars with Brutus and Cassius and Octavian? These people are playing for possession of the known world. It’s not like a little local fight – these are huge territories. The Great Army has conquered a huge part of England. How do we behave now? That’s what Season 5 opens with.”

The trailer of the season also shows Ivar weeping. Furthermore, the trailer/teaser also shows the Seer telling Lagertha that she has only seen the beginning of the end as the consequences of Ragnar’s death is not yet played out and now she has to prepare herself for what is to come. She asks, “What is to come, tell me,” and the Seer says that if she could suppose change it if she knew what is going to come.

Vikings 2017 Return Premiere Release Date & Schedule & Air Dates

The show has been building toward Ragnar’s death for a while now even though it was disheartening to see Vikings kill off its main lead Ragnar Lothbrok, and actor Travis Fimmel even explained to Entertainment Weekly that it actually took the show more than 40 episodes to bring Ragnar’s story to an end even though Ragnar was supposed to die after Season 1, showing how he goes from a modest, noble farmer to a far more complex, shaded character and king. It’s time for the series to introduce some new characters and storylines to rival Ragnar and Lagertha as the role of Ragnar is over now.

After a great ending to season 4 of Vikings, it's clear that the show runners have a good idea of what to do for its next 20 episodes. Rumors are already started to pour in and as the fans are anxiously waiting to see what is in the store for them in the upcoming season, the creator Michael Hirst has already revealed that this season might be bigger than the last one.

In order to get all the answers to our questions, we will have to wait till the premier of Vikings season 5 which is tentatively said to be released in November 2017.
